Egresado en 1983 como Sub Teniente de Aviación, inició su carrera como piloto militar en la Fuerza Aérea Paraguaya, llegando a ser piloto de combate en AT-26 Xavante y comandante instructor de C-212 y DC-3, retirándose con el rango de Capitán en 1996. Continuó su carrera internacionalmente como comandante instructor de Learjet, Citation, Hawker y King Air 300/350 en Dallas, Texas, certificándose como instructor y chequeador de la FAA. Su trayectoria incluye instrucción en Fokker 100 con American Airlines, Airbus 319/320/321 en París, y comandante instructor de Airbus 320 en TAM Airlines.
